Belated christmas post and Happy Barkday to me!

Today is my special day. I am now officially 4 years old!

My M celebrated my barkday on christmas eve as she thought all the dogs will be around. Unfortunately Jack and Joey didn't come because their HC has a second pawty to go and so she can't bring them to Scuba's house. On the bright side, that means Tommy, Scuba and me get to eat more!

Here's me with the cake my M made. It's more meatloaf than cake, because it's all packed with awsome beef! It's decorated with fondant and some sesame street characters taken off from my baby sister's old barkday cake. We didn't get to eat the fondant coz it's sweet so it's only for decoration.

My barkday cake!

Customary group photo

Singing my barkday song. I must add that I didn't get to blow my own candle because my baby sister and Tommy's baby brother beat me to it.

Finally, getting ready to cut the cake! I'm licking my lips in anticipation!

Then we took the annual group photo with the babies.

Poor Pepper very unwisely decided to walk past at this time and he was grabbed (literally!) to take pictures too.

Just to show you how unhappy he looked, here's a close up from other photos.

He must be the unhappiest living thing in the house on christmas eve. Maybe that has something to do with him being half strangled by my baby sister.

I think that my M is gonna get me something nice for dinner tonight since it's my barkday. I'm soooo looking forward to dinner!

Leaving you now with my baby sister's best wishes for the coming new year!

Kiss my butt

Not mine.... my baby sister.

Nowadays she likes to run to me nekkid after her shower and tell me to kiss her bum. Sometimes I oblige her, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood for stinky butts, shower or not. Just because I like to stuff my nose into other dog's butts or some human crotches doesn't mean I like having butts shoved in my face.

Warning: Nudity involved, parental advice needed (as in, advice your kids not all dogs like to kiss butts)

I wonder how my baby sister would react if I'd shoved MY butt into her face.

Photos to share

Just to share with you some photos my M took for me last weekend. She bought a new backdrop and was waiting for the chance to take some nice peektures of my and my baby sister.

I was a very good boy, I took a lot of photos even tho I didn't really like the being made to do stay and with 2 huge flashes pointing at me. So I had lots of pictures. But my M only uploaded these few.

Serious look

Happy look

Bored look

My baby sister, on the other hand, was a naughty girl. First she refused to put away the awful tumbler whose color clashes with the image, and then she refused to stay put. After that she just threw a tantrum and cried. So she only had a handful of photos, one of which shows her bullying me as usual... just ignore my smile. I did it because I had to. I REALLY was being bullied.

After her tantrum, my M had a hard time controlling both of us because I kept wanting to run away and my baby sister keep wanting to throw a fit. In the end she gave up irritably and went mumbling something about "babies and dogs together".

Anyway, I thought it turned out pretty well. At least I was looking handsome, right?

I think there might be a next time....

Nosey Affair

Lately, my M has been looking at my nose very frequently and she said that my nose's color is getting lighter.

She commented that even when my big brother herbie was 7 years old, he still had a very black nose.

My big brother herbie before he fell sick

I started with a very black nose too...

when I was a pup

Then somehow it just got gradually lighter at the tips

My M wonders if it's coz I was rubbing my nose too much, which resulted in quite a bloody mess the last time I did frantic rubbing.

See my bloody nose?

Or maybe because I like to poke my nose too much into other people's (and dog's) butts.

Oh well, I don't think it matters very much what color my nose is, as long as it can still smell. I think my baby sister would like it very much if my nose was orange, or pink.

Partners in Crime

Here's me and my BFF baby sister (yes, we've made up since the last post), trying to harrass... I mean, entice the cat to come out and play with us.

You can't see the cat in the video coz it was hiding in the bushes and my M can't get a good shot of it, but believe me, it was inside.

Unfortunately, it refused to come out and play with us. I blame my baby sister for making all that meowing noise and scaring it. If I was the only one there, the cat would have come out long ago.

Complain Queen

My baby sister is growing up to be a complain queen. She now has enough vocab to complain about me. Just a few weeks ago, she was complaining to all the humans that I stepped on her toe and this morning, she complained to my M that I stepped on her hand.

Well, I haven't even gotten started on MY own list of complains, like how she likes to disturb me when I sleep, pull my tail, knock on me, meddle with my dinner, pluck my fur, poke my eye, sit on me....

See, my list is longer than hers and to think she has the cheek to complain about ME first! Someone should tell her to stop bullying me instead.

(M: Well, that's the kind of love-hate relations that they share, much like real human siblings. They like each other and yet like to irritate each other as well.)

BFF

Just to share some photos my M took for me and my BFF yesterday. She complains that she can never get both of us to look at the camera at the same time. I think she should just improve on her photoshop.

Kiss kiss

Hug hug

Finally open!

Sorry for not posting for such a long time. The whole family went on a howliday and I was left behind with Scuba, who was too lazy to switch on his PC for me, hence the lack of updates.

Anyway, the dog run is finally offically open today!!!!

And I went early this morning to check it out. You can still see the construction going on outside the dog run.

And of course, I had to be the first to mark my territory. I've already peed a few times....

and taken my first dump there.

I can't wait to see my friends again there tomorrow!

Catching

Just showing how my baby sister and I sometimes play. She likes to make me run after her, but if I get too rough, she'll complain. You just can't win her.

Dog Run (II)

I've not gone to the park for a few weeks now since the dog run was closed so last weekend, my M thought we should make a trip there to see how things are moving along.

Of course, she didn't tell me that the run is still closed so I happily dragged her and my baby sister towards the direction of the dog run, until I came to this...

A barrier!!

Look at how tightly I was pulling the leash to check out the barrier. Even my baby sister seems a little shocked that her way was blocked.

We went near the new fence and on closer look, we saw this:

It won't be ready until 15 Oct!!

Well, since we came all the way here, I might as well take a photo with my future new dog run.

I just hope that there will not be any further extentions to the closure. I need to mark the new place and play with my friends.

When will you be ready?

Knock, Knock.

I think either my baby sister has a bad hearing or my M has bad diction. Either way, I'm the one who suffers.

Happy Children's Day!

It was Children's Day last Friday and my baby sister's childcare organised an outing to the park. Of course, at 3.5 years old, I am considered a child as well, so my M decided to bring me along and at the same time take some pictures of me since she felt she has not taken pictures for me for quite some time.

I was so happy to be going for an outing that I was running in joy!

The park was near to a shipyard place so we can see BIG ships nearby.

In between my nice, posed photos....

I was actually taking a rest at a pavilion. I was the first one there, but later a couple came and they decided to be lovey dovey in my pavilion. My M thought it's a bit strange since couples usually like to seek secluded spots but this couple decided to choose to be lovey dovey right next to me.

They were smooching before this pic was taken...

Anyway, my sister's schoolbus finally arrived and I met up with the children. They didn't quite know what to do with me at first.

Can someone give me a massage?

So my baby sister had to demonstrate...

And I must say they are all very quicker learners!

Full body massage!!

They had some kiddy games later, where you're supposed to guess the person behind the card.

I wasn't intersted in this game at all since I can already guess with my nose.

The kids later made me fetch sticks and run races with them, but too bad my M didn't have the chance to take the pictures of us playing because she was too busy maintaining order with me and the screaming kids. I was almost going deaf with all the kids shouting instructions at me!

But in all, it was a fantastic day out for me. I was so tired from all the running that I slept the afternoon away. And so did my baby sister.

Happy Children's Day to all who are still young at heart!

Red Nosed Doggie!

(to the tune of Rudolph!)

Helios the red nosed doggie
Had a very bloody nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it's gross
All of the other humans
Used to laugh and call him names
They would say poor thing Helios
You're such a silly boy

The humans have been tsk-tsking at me recently, saying that I'm a silly boy. It all started when my MM bought a new car. It's now a 7-seater, but my MM converted the last row into a flat area for me so now I have a whole 1/3 of the car to myself! I no longer have to share the back seat with my baby sister!

Look how much space I have now!

Our new car came last week, and to go with the new car, there was a new doggie car seat cover which MM's sister gave us. And since the new doggie car seat cover does not have my scent, the most natural thing for me to do is to rub my face in the cover.

Unfortunately, the cover came with a zip and I rubbed my nose too hard on the metal zip that I rubbed my nose raw. My M thought that I would stop rubbing it in since my nose is already raw but I proved to her that I determined to get my smell on it at all costs, so I continued rubbing my face in the next day as well. My M was surprised at the splotches of blood on the brand new car seat cover and also at my high threshold of pain. In the end, she decided to flip the cover on its underside so I won't be able to get the zip.

The culprit

So now we just have to wait for my nose to heal.

My poor nose

(M: The nose is taking some time to heal because Helios is STILL rubbing his face in the cover and with his nose already raw, the wound gets 'refreshed' everytime he rubs his face, even though he's now rubbing on cloth instead of zip. And he always does it when everyone is already strapped at the front of the car and no one can get him to stop him. Maybe he will have to be banned from car rides until his nose heals :P)

Oh no! I hope my M is not seriously thinking of banning me from car rides!
(On a side note, my M was hinting to my MM that now that we have so much space at the back and there's only one dog, we should fully utilise the extra space. I wonder what that means...)

I'm sor-wie....

I did a very bad thing the other day. Although I knew I wasn't supposed to do it and it wasn't really an emergency, I went ahead and did it.

I pooped at home.

I'm outside trained, so there's no papers at home for me to do my business, so unless I'm having a stomach upset, I won't poop at home. But those 2 days, I kept distracted by the cats when I went for my toilet break that I forgot to poop. I was so busy trying to get them to play that I just went for a quick pee and went to look for the kitty cats.

So on day 3, I decided I had to go... at home. And my M was angwee with me when she came home and saw the non-diarrhoea poop. I wonder if it might have been better if it's diarhoea poop? (M: Of course not! Poop at home is no good, doesn't matter if you're having a tummy upset or not. But at least there's no scolding if it's truly a tummy upset)

Look how sor-wie I am. I tried to give her my ball as a token of apology but I don't think she really wanted it.

I blame the cats.

Where's my dog run?

I went to my weekly weekend dog run last sunday and to my horror, this is what I saw!

Do you notice anything strange about the picture below? Make a guess...

My dog run is fenceless! I had to sniff both sides of the poles to make sure my eyes were not playing tricks on me. Oh the horror! Where am I supposed to find my friends? What will happen to my social life in future!

I was about to get ready to collaspe from apoplexy when my M reassured me that the dog run will be back. Apparently there's a huge upgrading of the whole park and the dog run is slated to be moved a short distance away. The workers had to remove the fences to put it at the new run.

If you see the picture below, the new dog run will be right behind the white fencing.

I was so relieved that my dog run will still be here. It seems that the new run is supposed to be ready by the end of this week. I hope that the workers will be done with it soon. I'm missing my friends already!

Play with me!

Anyone can tell me how to make Pepper play with me? He ignores me even as I prance about, sniff him or whine. He even hisses at me! But that didn't stop me from trying.

Sorry for the bad light, but we were in a corner of the room and there wasn't much light.

Even Scuba couldn't give me any help. So, any bright ideas?

What goes around...

... comes around.

Hey guys, I'm back with a guest post! Remember a long, long time ago, I once complained that with the arrival of my baby brother Helios (now a big boy helios), I've become at the bottom of the pecking order?

Well, it turns out that there is something called 'retribution'. Or maybe not such a serious word. Comeuppance? Just desserts? (although I cannot imagine desserts being a bad thing)

It seems that my baby brother helios is now... right at the bottom of the pecking order!

Now he will fully understand what I was feeling as he crushed over me, disturbed my sleep and basically being a pain in the bottom (bottom... bottom of the pecking order.. geddit? Geddit??)

Sorry, I guess being dead doesn't stop me from being corny, or punny.

As an angel, I think I'm in the best position to warn you, be good to others, or else....

I'll make sure you'll be at the bottom too

I want to go toooooo

This is what happens almost every weekday morning. Everyone will go out and leave me alone at home. Even my baby sister gets to go out and she likes to rub it in (literally and figuratively) on me too!

My baby sister will sometimes come and hug me goodbye they leave the house on her own accord. of course sometimes she also follows the hug with a 'Helios, cannot go!' or 'Helios, stay at home!' which is not exactly the words I wanted to hear.

Why can't I go wherever they are going too?

Of cars and food

This is a post not about me at all. In fact, I'm not even featured in this post. But Scuba is too lazy to post so he asked me to and as his good friend, of course I obliged.

Look what has he got!

His very own car!! His Uncle in Hong Kong bought this license plate especially for him!

I'm jealous. I want a car named Helios too. But too bad license plates in Singapore doesn't allow us to have novelty names like that and my M is too poor to buy a car in Hong Kong so that I can have my name on it.

(M: Excuse me, who is going to drive that car in Hong Kong when ALL of us are living here?)

Well, if it's any consolation, at least Scuba'll never get to sit in it, unless he can fly to Hong Kong, he can only admire his car thru pictures. And I don't think Aunty V will fly Scuba to Hong Kong just to sit on Scuba the car since there's the matter of quarantine and stuff.

On another note, here's Joey looking intently at my baby sister's food. Life can be so unfair for us dogs. Why does she get to eat everytime she begs but we get ignored?

Tolerance

My baby sister likes to disturb me.... a lot. But I'm a good boy, so I usually try to tolerate or ignore her. Look how I'm being bullied at home!

First, she likes to climb all over me...

And my M is so busy filming that she won't even save me when I'm staring at her with pleading eyes.

Then, she won't let me eat in peace...

This is already on a good day. Sometimes she stares at me when I'm trying to eat and try to poke my dinner. Or she'll be banging the pots and pans when I'm trying to eat.

And to think some people say the dog is a dangerous animal around kids. I think it should be the other way around!

Uprooting?

I found this really nice and big stick the other day and try as I might (and I'm a strong boy!), I can't seem to pick it up.

Anyone has any idea how I can get that stick?

New dog in da house!

I think the training of my baby sister is moving on very well.

Finally learnt the art of fetching

See! After fetching the toy, she will lie on it and cover it with her scent. Although if it was me, I'd be rolling over the toy instead of just lying on it. And I don't know why she has to keep count before getting up.

In fact, I think she makes a very good pup and she has me to thank for being a good teacher. Or maybe I shouldn't teach her too well because the humans seem to be stopping me from snatching... I mean fetching with her. I thought all toys thrown should be fair game?

My mum thinks she has inherited some of my silliness. I don't think she got silliness from me, since I'm not silly. I'm not, right? *worried*

silly girl

All dogs should hate lampshades, but I don't know why she's having so much fun with Scuba's lampshade. I think I better have a good talk with her to straighten out the dos and don'ts of being a dog.

Save who??

When my baby sister gets punished, she will usually cry out for someone other than the punisher (usually my M, the punisher I mean, not the savior) to save her.

Well, she was punished again a few days ago and made to sit in the corner and she must have been really desperate, coz she starting calling out for me to save her. ME? Save her against my M??! She must be getting desperate.

She kept crying out 'Helios there...' at least I hope that meant 'Helios are you there to save me' and not 'Helios, there is the culprit!'

And as you can see.... I did try! I really did! I tried by trying to distract my M with my ball and pleaing with my big innocent eyes.

I don't think it worked too well tho...

Last dog standing

I don't know if it's a color thing, but it seems that I'm always almost the last dog standing.

Maybe something about being white makes them more easily tired?

It can be boring being the only one with energy left!

Murder, I wrote

I had a horrifying experience last Sunday. I almost witnessed a murder.

The day started out quite normally, taking my usual Sunday morning bath. After my bath, just as my M was planning to take me to my usual Sunday morning park, she opened the door and was greeted by a storm. Having no choice, we had to play fetch in the corridor so that I can run myself drier.

Everything was going on well, I was happily playing ball, when my M suddenly tried to murder..... my ball.

I don't know how, but she threw it down into the street from our flat and even managed to make it look like an accident.

I looked down and saw....

.... lying on the street, wet and afraid.

Then something worse happened! Having escaped being flattened on the ground after a fall from great height, my poor ball almost died again!

Don't run over my ball!

I think my poor ball should start counting his lucky stars that he escaped from the jaws of death twice in a morning.

Once the rain lightened up, I hurried my M to save my poor, traumatised ball. I'm glad to see that it's still in one piece.

I think I have to pawtect my poor ball from my clumsy M.

I'm soooo glad you're back!

But if I don't let her hold the ball, how do I get her to throw it for me to fetch? What a dilemma!

Friday, June 04, 2010

It's been a loooong time...

... since I last went to the beach. The last time I was there, my baby sister was still crawling. Now she's a little walking terror.

I was soooo happy to be finally back on the beach that I was running for joy.

The sun.. the sea... the sand!!

Too bad Scuba couldn't come coz his mum was sick, but then again, he wouldn't have enjoyed swimming anyway. And Tommy couldn't come coz his pawrents went to a wedding pawty the night before and couldn't wake up in time. I'm sure Tommy will be quite peeved with them if he found out we went swimming.

Did I mention we went swimming?

And I'm sure Tommy will be disappointed to know that we were frollicking in the sand...

Don't tell Tommy we were playing in the sand, ok?

Did I say anything about sand?

Anyway, if Tommy were to ever ask how was our weekend, I'm sure we could get Jack to tell him that it was bad.

Bah! Being stuck at the beach is a lousy start to the day!

Even my baby sister wasn't really enjoying herself at first. She didn't like walking on the sand and was afraid of the waves.

So we had 2 grouches on the beach...

So I decided to have a good talk with her...

And showed how how much fun the beach can be!

Which maybe I shouldn't have, coz she found her own way of having fun at the beach...

Water me!

Test, test...Is Helios wet enough?

Nope... needs more water

And some on the head too...

Can you see the resigned look on my face? Oh well... as long as it makes her happy. But Joey was smart enough to get away from her.

Gonna just get my ball and get out of the way before I get watered too

But he only stayed away until there was food...

I think my baby sister has mastered the art of begging, as evident by the fact that she's the only one among the 3 who got to eat after begging. And she got the food from Aunty G, who is well known for being able to resist doggie begs.

I wonder if my Big Brother Herbie has somehow secretly imparted the most important lesson in the art of begging to my baby sister. How else can you explain why she succeeded when everyone else have failed?

As for me, I'm just happy to be back on the beach, food or no food.

I do hope we get to go back again soon. And remember, if Tommy ever asks, we were NEVER at the beach!
