Where's my brother?

I've been home all alone these 2 days. My big brother Herbie went to stay with Scuba coz he's sick. We went to Scuba's house yesterday and Aunty S said that herbie refused to eat the whole day, so my M had to force feed him his dinner. He managed to eat only half, so I got the other half. They also gave him some high energy supplement, but they gotta stuff it down his throat too.

I think my brother is getting weak. My M told me to give herbie back his appetite, but I don't know how. I'm always hungry and I can eat and eat and eat. My M says I'm getting fatter coz I'm eating my brother's leftovers.

I want my big brother back.

Try feeding some manuka honey, it's gd for sick dogs as it contains alot of minerals, and they may like some sweet stuffs this point of time..

Hope Herbie feels better soon..

Is Herbie drinking? His lack of appetite may partly due to dehydration and side effect (nausea) of antibiotics.

My boy had pneumonia b4 n lost his appetite too, didnt eat n drink very little for 5 days. His appetite perk up after we put him on drip for half a day at the vet.

In US, some vets will frequently pretreat w/ metoclopromide (Reglan) about 1/2 hour prior to administering the antibiotic.

May be ur M can check with the vet abt fluid therapy and also giving metoclopromide to treat nausea.

Alternatively, a nebulizer can b used. I extracted this comment from a vet: "The beauty of the nebulizer administered antibiotics is that you get more pow for the amount of drug used - it's infused RIGHT INTO THE LUNGS. It doesn't have to be absorbed from the intestines. You can actually use less. AND, the drug doesn't affect the rest of the body as much as it isn't force into the blood stream - just goes where it's needed."

Sorri for d long post, hope it helps n ur bro will get well soon.

Helios, please ask your hooman M to give Herbie some appetite pills. It usually works & Faith gets really hungry when she takes one of those stuff. My paws are crossed for him!

He must be feeling so poorly to keep not eating his food. I left my food alone for a few days when I was poorly, and just slept and drank water. I think you need lots of water too.

Helios, I'm sorry you're missing your brother. I'll be happy to share some of my food with Herbie if he'll eat it. Tonight we're having turkey necks.

I'm sending my Super Sherman healing energy for your bother.

Oh my Mommy is crying Helios. You be really nice to Herbie, okay? Just remember he needs you to be real sweet to him. Tuck him in for his naps, okay? And be sure to give him big ole kissies from us over here in Florida.
