Belated christmas post and Happy Barkday to ME!

It's a VERY special day today, coz I'm now officially TWO!

But I celebrated my barkday with my friends earlier, on christmas eve, since the humans were also having a gathering then. My M made me a barkday cake to share with my friends, made with wholesome goodies!

*warning: loads of photos of my cake in progress!*

Fried with healthy olive oil

my minced chicken!

Even my MM helped... for like 2 minutes!

Is it ready?

The we added carrots and garlic

Some honey.... coz I'm sweeeeet

And an egg and flour

this is so exciting!

Mix 'em up and put in a tray for baking

The cake 'icing', which is actually cheese

the 'iced' cake

My name! And I'm 2!

But I can't eat it yet...

We have to go Scuba's house for the x'mas pawty and take the annual 'dogs with tree (and now babies) photo'.

Then I finally get to eat my cake. Or rather, I have to pose with it again. All my friends were kept away so that the humans can take my peekture in peace. Unfortunately, there was no more fridge space coz it's filled with human goodies so my cake was left outside and the words on my cake started bleeding.

me posing with bleeding cake

Me having the first lick at bleeding cake

Then we all got to eat the cake! Look at me chomping!

Chomp!

And on Christmas day, I get to open my presents! But as usual, I have to pose AGAIN!

Are we quite done yet?

Finally!

Thanks to everyone for the lovely presents!!

And last night, my M cooked me a YUMMY dinner as an early barkday dinner. I got a whole piece of steak!

I want it medium-well please!

My yummy dinner!

The other part is a mix of veges, prawns, scallops, fish and some mussels. (actually leftovers from the human dinner but coz it's only cooked with herbs and no salt, I get to eat some).

My medium-well steak!

Yummy! I ate all the beef first

But I don't really like veges, and I think I'm not a mussel fan as well.

But overall, it was a very good dinner!

My M says that I'm an even BIGGER boy now coz I'm 2, so I shouldn't be so silly anymore.... but... I never thought I was silly. Was I?

Oops!

Last week, my MM's brother, Uncle CH brought me out to play freeze-bee. My M said she wanted to come along to take some peektures too so the 3 of us went out for an hour of fun.

But that's not the oops part.

So I waited for the freeze-bee to land...

But that's not the oops part.

I flipped over the freeze-bee with my nose...

Bit it's still not the oops part yet.

I ran with the freeze-bee...

Still no oopsie yet although my M says I look rabbit... I thought I'm a dog?
(M: Rabid! Not Rabbit!)

Then I posed nicely with my freeze-bee...

But still no oops.

Actually the oops has got nothing to do with my freeze-bee! I'm sure I tricked you into thinking I did a oopsie with the freeze-bee! Ha ha ha!

What happened was, I think I need glasses. It was a VERY big field, and there was only Uncle CH, my M, me, and a couple with a westie. So I ran to sniff noses with the westie. As I was busy sniffing butts... I mean, noses, Uncle CH told my M that he's gonna walk further down. So he walked far far away.

So after doing my social thingy, I wanted to look for uncle CH to play more freeze-bee, and there I saw him... far far away! So I ran FULL SPEED AHEAD towards Uncle CH.

In the faint distant, I could hear my M shouting something but I can't catch what she said coz I was running so fast the wind was buzzing in my ears. I think I also heard Uncle CH shouting for me so I ran even faster. I think Uncle CH wanted to play catching with me coz he started running as well.

As soon as I caught up with Uncle CH, I jumped up at him twice. OOOOOPS! THAT is NOT Uncle CH?!!?! Where IS Uncle CH??? So I turned around and I saw Uncle CH far far away again and I ran at him FULL SPEED AHEAD!

It turned out that unknown to me, at that time while I was buzy sniffing butts, I mean, noses... a teenage boy joined the picture and he walked past us.

And later my M called me a stupid boy and started telling everyone how silly I've been.

(M: What happened was, Helios just saw a 'lone' figure walking and he assumed that it's my brother-in-law. So he started running. I was shouting "Helios! Wrong Person!!!" But I don't think he understood. My brother-in-law was also shouting Helios name in a bid to make him switch directions.

The teenage boy was actually just walking when he turned around when he heard us shout only to see a big dog running at him in full speed. Then he started running as well. Unfortunately, 2 legs cannot be faster than 4 and Helios caught up with him. Helios has ha habit of jumping on my brother-in-law to play and after 2 jumps, I think he realised he got the wrong person and he turned back.

The couple with the westie, were initially wondering if my dog was going for the kill coz they were asking each other what's happening. Until they they heard me shouting 'wrong person!', then they started laughing quietly... and laughing... and repeating 'wrong person' to each other.

Luckily we did not get a complain from the boy for letting our dog run after him. He continued walking on his way and we quickly made our escape soon after.

And THAT is my oopsie.

Lesson 3

Baby: What's the next lesson?

Lesson 3: Drool is gooood....

The more you drool, the more likely you get fed. Because the humans want to stop the drool from coming.

And my baby sister is learning fast!

At this rate I'll be running out of things to teach her soon!

Lesson 2

And this is how you play with a long toy.

I think either my baby sister will have to grow a bigger mouth or use a smaller toy.

Can't see

Where are you?

(M: Just another day in the life of the silly boy, just another goofy way of holding his toy (besides poking his own eye with them) )

Puppy Bums!

I am now officially a Big Brother! My momma gave birth again recently so now I have 3 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters.

Tired momma and step-siblings

My M says that all those puppy bums reminded her of me when I was young, and when she was anxiously waiting for updates from my breeder.

29 Dec 2006 - can you tell which is me?

Anyway, this will be my one and only batch of step-siblings coz my breeder says my momma's not gonna give birth anymore. But I may get to be an UNCLE next year coz my sister Spice will be bred next year!

Spice

Don't Spice and me look alike? But Aunty G says that we only look alike when I look serious, which is hardly ever.

Maybe I should try to look more serious and less goofy.

Bye Bye Daisy

Bye bye, Big Sister Daisy. Go and look for my big brother Herbie, he'll look after you well.

I still remember the last time we met was so long ago, I was still a pup, and you were celebrating your barkday.

It's because of your website (started long before blogs were the 'in' thing), that my M hit upon the idea of setting up a blog for my big brother Herbie so that she can convince overseas breeders that she's a sincere golden lover by showing them how she takes care of my big brother so well, so that they can consider selling her a pup and that they can watch the pup's update via the blog too.

If not for Aunty Trish, my M would not have found my breeder, and thus found me, and I would not have gotten to meet you and Waverly as well.

So it's all thanks to you that my M and I got each other.

Aunty Trish, take care of yourself. We know how you feel, because we went through the same pain when my big brother herbie decided to move to the rainbow bridge first. There will never be another Daisy, just like there will never be another Herbie, but me and Waverly will be around to lick the wounds better for my M and for you.

Slow-mo nose trick

My M took some peektures of me doing the food on nose trick in slow-motion...

Now you see it...

Then it's going...

Going... (see the inside of my mouth!)

Gone!

It was yummy. And my M took the peektures 4 times, so it's 4x yummies! I think I might want to try balancing a whole chicken next time. Do you think it'll fit on my nose?

Waiting....

Are you going to start eating anytime soon?

Friday, November 07, 2008

Say Cheese!

Sherylyn: What's that big black thing pointing at us?
Helios: Say Cheese and don't move, otherwise there'll be no food.

No food??

The Thinker

A few months ago, a small patch of white fur suddenly appeared on my head. A lot of people asked my M what happened, so my M told them that I got white hair from thinking too much.

Thinking in process

Maybe I should try not to think too much about who to disturb next.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

I like to sleep...

.... with my head under the sofas.

My M says it's my own way of switching off the lights.

Cool Dude

Uncle M just had new tattoos done on his arms recently, and the humans all thought it looked pretty cool. So I tell them, I'm a cool dude too! Coz I have a tattoo too!

If you just ignore the toy in my mouth, don't I look like a cool dude?

Maybe I should try not to stuff the toys in my mouth so much. It seems to take away whatever look I'm trying to achieve. I can't look furocious, or cool with toys in my mouth.

Anyway! I was an even cooler dude coz I had the tattoo done when I was a pup. It reads 'SAV 040', with SAV being the abbreviation of the kennel name I came from and 040 means I'm the number 40th pup born there. My litter brother Casper has the tattoo SAV 039.

My M says it's a good identification because if I ever get stolen or lost, the person who got me cannot claim that I am another dog coz no other dog will have my tattoo.

Oh dear, what happens if the finder decides to chop off my ear instead, then I'll be a one-eared dog!

Time flies

Hey everyone. Time really flies. It's been 1 year and 1 day since I have been gone and I hope everyone is doing fine. And now the important question....

Anyone missed me?? Anyone??? ANYONE??

Miss me?

Anyway, I'm glad that Helios, although silly and not as smart as me, has managed to maintain this blog pretty well. But I can't say the same for my M. In spite of her on leave for the last 2 months, she has been lazy helping Helios update the blog. There were some videos she took that still has not seen the light of day and I know she's trying to use the baby as an excuse but trust me, the baby sleeps more than me when I was alive. And I slept A LOT.

Maybe I should threaten to haunt her unless she works a little more harder at maintaining my blog.

Now if I can just find a large white sheet to cover myself in.

Cheated Walks

Thanks for your concern guys, I'm all right now. Our housekeeper has been dismissed on Monday, and the new housekeeper won't be in til next week. As I was saying in my previous post, one of the main reason she was dismissed is because she was not honest, on top of other things

She is supposed to walk me in the afternoons but she has not been doing it for a long time. My M and MM were not aware coz they were working, and it's only after my baby sister came and my M stayed home on maternity leave that she happened to find out about this terrible lie. I tried to tell them I have no walkies but they didn't quite understand dog talk.

How my M found out is one day, my housekeeper supposedly took me out for my 'walk'. But instead of walking, she took me to the playground downstairs, tied me to a bench while she chatted with her other housekeeper friends. My M didn't realise until she went to the kitchen for a drink and saw from the window that I was tied downstairs. By then I was already there for about 20 minutes.

It happened that my MM came home so my M told him, and he went to take a photo as proof. Can you see me?

Anyway, just as he took the photo, our housekeeper happened to look up and saw him so she came up immediately. However, my MM did not 'expose' her immediately. And ths became bolder, and did it again the next week, this time when both my M and MM were at home! But this time she was more careful, she did not tie me to the bench, but just stood there and chatted, while looking up at our room window time to time to see if my M or MM spotted her.

My M was quite unhappy because she is supposed to walk me. She would not mind if the housekeeper is out of the house for 30 min or even 1 hour if I really was being walked, but if I'm just sitting downstairs, I could have just stayed at home and sit in my room instead. She thought that with added help in the house, I am getting extra walks but apparently I was just an excuse for the housekeeper to go and chat with her friends.

Anyway, my M said luckily the housekeeper is not too bright. Of all places and time she had to choose a place which can be seen from our kitchen window, on a day when my M and MM are at home to play her 'trick'. But it's also a good thing because that's how she got caught.

I hope our new housekeeper will give me proper walks next time. I wonder how I can complain to my M and make her understand if I get cheated again.

Near death experience

Something scary and horrible happened last night. I almost went to join my big brother Herbie. What happened was, after the mid-autumn festival pawty at Scuba's house last night (which I shall blog about later after I get over my traumatic near death experience), we went home.

My M and MM and my baby sister sat in the front seats, while our housekeeper and me went up the back seat. However, the housekeeper did not check that my leash was all inside the car and she closed the door. Just as my M< was reversing the car out of the lot, my leash got tangled under the wheel and I got chocked.

I was making strangling noises and luckily my quick thinking MM quickly stopped the car. Our housekeeper still had no idea what was happening. So my MM went down the car and opened the door and unleashed me. I jumped out immediately and tried to run away from the horrible leash but my MM caught me.

My MM was so angry at our housekeeper that he scolded her badly. Luckily I was not injured, or else I think they would have killed her. Erm... maybe not really kill, but enough to make her wish she was dead.

Anyway, I don't think she'll be with us soon. My MM and M are thinking of terminating her services, because of some other things she did. She even cheated my of my walks, which I shall blog about at a later date when she's gone.

Love my blog?

Sammi and Baylee just gave me an award, because they love my blog!

Finally I have someone other than my family loving me. My M says I'm not as popular as my big brother Herbie with other dogs coz I have no idea what is personal space and I am usually too 'in your face'. What IS personal space anyway?

Anyway here's the rules for the award:

1. The winner can put the logo on his/her blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate at least seven other blogs.
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs that you've nominated.

So I now annouce the blogs that I love and whom have not been chosen:

Butchy & Snickers
The Brat Pack
Pippa
Joe and Tanner
Joey (I hope he'll play with me more after this award)
Charlie
Homer

My 4 seconds of fame

Remember the advert I did somewhere in May? It's finally officially out! It's actually a Nike ad for the Human Race, and here's the clip below.

I appear at around the 40 seconds mark, after the mascara streaked lady, for about 4 seconds running with a couple, so try not to blink after the mark or you might miss me! It's in black and white so it's not very obvious.

And now I can finally post the peektures of the filming process. We were actually supposed to be filming along a rail road and the nice production team even got me booties coz they were not sure if my paws can take the gravel.

Booties

But I told them, I'm a tuff boy so I don't need booties.

Like I said previously, a lot of time was spent waiting.

Waiting...

...For the train to go past...

... for my turn...

... for the crew to get ready...

While waiting, I had to entertain myself a little...

...by playing ball...

... and posing for nice pictures...

Notice the dark dark sky in the background? It was slightly drizzling.

Finally we took some shots at the rails with me! We first tried running with me on leash coz they weren't sure if I'm reliable enough off leash.

Then I tell them I am a very good boy off leash too, and off leash looks nicer. So they took one with me off leash. My M will stand at one end to call me while my MM have to bring me to the other end coz I refuse to walk so far away with the models without my M or MM.

See? I'm a good boy! But my M thought that maybe I ran too fast for the hoomans but the director said it's ok. The crew were very impressed with me coz I'm such a good boy.

Unfortunately, the rain got heavier but the shot was not done. So we had to change location.

New location and getting ready

My MM is actually hiding behind one of the pillars. He's so well hidden you can't see him.

And finally the cameras rolled and I RAN!

Sorry for the dark and slightly blurred picture. My M thought that it's a day shoot so she did not bring her flash, but coz of the rain, we filmed into the evening and the sky got darker too.

And so, this is how I became a part of the Nike Human Race, although I'm not human.

I wonder if they will come up with a Canine Race.
